As from last Tuesday the entrance to Antequeras town centre has been widened improving the flow of traffic.
The Alameda de Andalucía now has 4 lanes and with this reorganization the expectation is a greater mobility of the traffic for this important part of Antequera. There are now two lanes in each direction meaning a major change to a road that gives priority to the vehicles coming from Infante Don Fernando and Cantareros towards the Alameda de Andalusia and the la Puerta de Estepa. "This change will speed up the mobility of the traffic that has been modified by several works in nearby streets and traffic lighted crossings", informed a town council spokes person. The transformation of la Alameda de Andalusia into an avenue with four lanes means that 17 parking spaces have been taken away. To recover these parking spaces a zone has been set aside at Infante Don Fernando from San Luis up to the corner of calle San Bartolomé for controlled parking spaces. The council has changed the parking times from 12 to 5, to 8,00am through to 3 in the afternoon. The company Electrotechnics has communicated to Antequeras Traffic management councillor that a study taken about the capacity of vehicles and mobility of traffic in las Calles Merecillas, Cantareros and Infante Don Fernando recommends "modifying the regulators at crossings controlled by traffic lights". A bus stop that was once in la Alameda has also been moved up to la calle Infante Don Fernando on the corner of Picadero and the dropping of zone for Lorries and vans has been passed next to the bull ring.
